To answer the research question, an online experiment among university students, using social media profiles of attractive and unattractive people has been conducted. The participants were asked to perform dictator games and recruitment games. The results indicate that attractiveness in dictator games and the beauty premium in recruitment have a strong impact on participants. Furthermore, women and persons that are single are more altruistic than men or persons in relationships, while Swedish people are less altruistic than other nationalities. No difference could be found when comparing various social networks. (Less)
