Abstract
Gender equality is now more than ever a highly discussed topic within many different aspects of society. Also, being an entrepreneur is becoming increasingly more accessible and popular as a choice of occupation. This study aims to analyze the potential relationship between gender equality in entrepreneurship and the outcome on economic growth. By developing an index which ranks American states’ degrees of gender equality on a 0 to 1 scale (based off of the number of women owned businesses), a regression is used to determine the probable impact on GDP per capita growth. The data used ranges over a thirty-year time span and incorporates all 50 states. The construction of the regression is mainly based off of the theories outlined by... (More)

The construction of the regression is mainly based off of the theories outlined by Schumpeter and Baumol. Previous research within economic growth and gender equality as well as economic growth and entrepreneurial activity acts as a source of guidance for the study. The outcome of the regression analysis shows us that there indeed exists a correlation between entrepreneurial equality and economic growth, although the correlation is seemingly more complex than a linear relationship. This provides evidence that further research within this topic is essential. (Less)
