Adverse consequences of global climate change increasingly affect society and economic performance. Climate finance structure supports mitigation and adaptation actions that address climate change. Developing economies are adopting climate adaptation measures to cope with the current climate situation and simultaneously promote sustainable development. Adverse consequences of global climate change increasingly affect society and economic performance. Climate finance structure supports mitigation and adaptation actions that address climate change. Developing economies are adopting climate adaptation measures to cope with the current climate situation and simultaneously promote sustainable development. The interrelation between climate adaptation and sustainable development is essential and has to be analyzed in a comprehensive way. The existing evaluation tools lack alignment between adaptation measures and sustainable development, focusing primarily on the projects’ performance. This study proposes a new evaluation tool for climate change adaptation projects in developing countries, taking as theoretical foundation existing frameworks. The novelty of this study is the inclusion of 17 SDGs, established by Agenda 2030. The evaluation of an adaptation project in Vietnam illustrates the applicability of the new evaluation tool and the importance of the interrelated analysis of the project’s performance and sustainable development. The findings demonstrate how guidelines and effective assessments can further promote climate projects and sustainable development strategies. (Less)
