Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine whether there are any differences in psychological well-being between students with low- respectively high levels of Fear of Missing out (FoMo). Although previous research shows that FoMo is commonly occurring and often associated with illness, the phenomenon is relatively unexplored in the field of psychological research. To investigate the relationship between FoMo and psychological well-being, a survey consisting of Fear of Missing out scale and Ryff's psychological well-being scale (RPWB-scale), was being used (N =204). RPWB-scale measures six dimensions of psychological well-being: environmental mastery, self-acceptance, positive relations with others, purpose in life, personal growth and... (More)

RPWB-scale measures six dimensions of psychological well-being: environmental mastery, self-acceptance, positive relations with others, purpose in life, personal growth and autonomy. The results of Pearson’s correlation test showed that FoMo has a significant negative correlation with RPWB as a whole. Through an independent-samples t-test, the result showed significant differences between the groups with high and low degree of FoMo in the dimensions: environmental mastery, self-acceptance and autonomy. This indicates that individuals with a high degree of FoMo, generally have lower psychological well-being than individuals with a low degree of FoMo. Furthermore, the results indicates that individuals with a high degree of FoMo feel that they have a lower ability in regards to environmental mastery, self-acceptance and autonomy. (Less)
