- Abstract
- This study makes an attempt to theorize drag king practices in Sweden from three theoretical perspectives: performance, politics and play. Drag kings in the Nordic countries hasn’t got much exposure in society, so the study tries to analyse their practices through interviews and field work. The field work has been conducted at two different drag shows and a drag salon. The drag salon is a meeting place for new and old drags to meet and explore their own drags, which is open for anyone interested in their practices.
The study has shown through the drag salon how this kind of platform helps expand the drag king community in Sweden. The drag show is also a way of engaging others outside the community.
