- Abstract
- This study is about the environmental work made in the municipality of Varberg in relation to the Swedish environmental goals. It consists of information gathered from five different interviews with people that work with the municipalities environmental work in different capacities. Most of the statistics are taken from other sources.The study also explores things that makes it harder for the municipality to achieve the national environmental goals.
This study shows that the people who work with Varbergs environment are taking a lot of actions to make the environment in their municipality better but there is still a long way to go. For instance, there are still a lot of people driving cars which emits a lot of carbon dioxide. But the... But the amount of public bus journeys has doubled during the last 3-4 years due to restructuring of the public bus routes.

- Denna studie handlar om det miljöarbete som utförts i Varbergs kommun i relation till de nationella miljömålen. Den består av information samlad från intervjuer av fem personer som jobbar i eller med Varbergs kommun. Alla har relevanta positioner för att uttala sig om olika delar av Varbergs kommun miljöarbete. Studien undersöker hur Varberg ligger till i sitt arbete med de nationella miljömålen och vad det är som försvårar deras arbete med att uppnå dessa mål.

Studien visar att Varbergs kommun aktivt jobbar med att förbättra miljön i kommunen och att reducera bidraget till klimatförändringarna men att det fortfarande är en lång väg att gå innan de nationella målen är uppnådda. Till exempel finns det fortfarande en betydande del privatbilism i kommunen vilket är en stor källa till koldioxidutsläpp. Dock har mängden bussresor fördubblats under de senaste 3-4 åren bland annat på grund av omläggning av busslinjerna i kommunen.
Ett problem som upptäcktes när studien utföres var att det saknades statistik för många av miljömålens indikatorer på kommunnivå. Detta gör det svårare för kommuner att veta hur de ligger till i förhållande till målen och var de bör satsa resurser för att uppnå de olika nationella miljömålen.
Målet med studien är att få en bättre förståelse av vad det är som försvårar kommuners arbete med miljömålen. För om vi inte förstår var problemen ligger så kan vi inte heller lösa dem. (Less)
