- Abstract
- This dissertation concerns attitudes towards measures suggested to prevent climate change and environmental degradation. Through survey research I have asked 230 Swedish speaking individuals (meant to indicate attitudes in Sweden) what their attitudes are towards car-free city zones, a vegetarian norm and working less. I have used Google Forms to collect this information and SPSS to analyse correlations between their attitudes and their socio-economic affiliation. I have found that a great majority supports car-free city cores, a vegetarian norm and working less. I have also found indications on correlation between different societal groups and certain attitudes. Women, the young and those with lower income tend to express more positive... (More)

I have also found indications on correlation between different societal groups and certain attitudes. Women, the young and those with lower income tend to express more positive attitudes towards individual climate measures. With higher incomes come more use of private cars as means of self-transport and also more reluctance in consuming less. Car-free city cores had the most even distribution and representation of positive attitudes throughout all societal groups. However, there must be efforts to realise change. I hope the dissertation provides directives and incentives for politicians (and other people with ability to influence) to work with realizing a climate adaptation of the Swedish society. (Less)
