The study started from the following questions: What can be described as aggravating or facilitating in the LSS-administrators way to talk about guardianship and the way it best can benefit the individual? And how does the LSS- administrators reason about how the guardianship should be formed to best benefit the individual? To answer these questions, we did a qualitative study, in which we interviewed seven LSS-administrators working in three different municipalities. Among other things this study showed that facilitating factors regarding the guardianship can be that the guardian has knowledge about the society and the individual. It was said to be facilizing if the guardian was perceptive, objective and took the individual’s perspective. LSS-administrators implied that it can be aggravating when the guardian is too much emotionally involved with the individual. Further on some of the LSS-administrators pointed out that the guardian should get an education and that it can be a good option to professionalize the guardianship in the future. The majority of the LSS-administrators presented a wish regarding that the guardian should not be someone who is a close relative to the individual. (Less)
