Abstract
The aim of this study has been to examine how professionals in the municipality and county cooperate in the organizational fields surrounding comorbidity between substance abuse and mental health among youngsters. The method chosen for this study was qualitative interviews with seven different professionals working in the social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, and Maria Skåne clinics. The results primarily showed that resources and division of responsibilities affected the cooperation in different ways both positively and negatively. The division of care was perceived to separate the competency where psychiatry doesn’t have sufficient knowledge of substance abuse. The social service fails to manage the mental health problems... The social service fails to manage the mental health problems which have a negative impact on cooperation between the organizations. There is a desire to cooperate to a greater extent but is hindered by limited resources such as time. Knowledge and understanding of each other's activities and governing routines were also expressed as a success factor. The ability to cooperate under the same roof could be crucial for personal contacts where relationships were described to facilitate collaboration. The Maria Skåne clinic is an example of an interprofessional team that is characterized greatly by internal and external communication where unity is shared and the responsibilities dominate the work.
