Abstract
La Petite Ceinture is a mysterious abandoned rail line at the heart of Paris. Once a major connector between the different train stations of the French capital, it now quietly rests hidden, as one of Paris’ long forgotten green corridors. In 2006, a joint collaboration between the elected representatives and the train company tried to come up with a plan to open it up for the public to enjoy.

This thesis stands as a critic of the on-going process and an attempt to propose a more sustainable alternative for the people and the immense biodiversity now present on this 32km line. It suggests to secure the continuity and integrity of the line and to create a strategy that will ensure a coherent and respectful overall development. Each... (More)

Each section is influenced and influences the city around it, creating very site-specific scenarios along the whole stretch. This project, instead of only looking at the train infrastructure, addresses the public spaces that relate to it and how the city can benefit from this urban renewal. With a multi-scalar approach and each zoom-in relating to the other, analysis, program plans, financing phasing and urban realm incentives form a new proposal for this unique opportunity. (Less)
