- Abstract
- With this study I seek to investigate if the Russo-Ukraine conflict, yet another example of when new or newly adapted technical innovations, have an impact on tactics. The method for this is to compare the observed use of drones in conjunction with mass fire weapon-systems in eastern Ukraine to the use of new weapons and techniques in the first world war, specifically the larger battles on the western front during the latter part of the war. It is well known that use of the machinegun, chemical warfare and aviation made the assumed truth of offense and manoeuvre as the ultimate way to win battles at least less true or even false. Will the use of drones in large scale together with indirect fire change the winds in tactics? A numerous... (More)

A numerous amount of military theories and doctrines align to that defence is the less risky way to conduct warfare. Although not also adheres to the impossibility to win by mere defensive capacities. I will analyse how a change of winds in tactics come about to find resemblance or differences between two conflicts. The struggle between measures and countermeasures is timeless and is proven to drive technical innovation through necessity in times of war, especially. (Less)
