This is done using the Synthetic Control Method which gives the opportunity to create a New Zealand case without electoral reform to use as a comparison unit. The study finds that there is some evidence to... (More)

This is done using the Synthetic Control Method which gives the opportunity to create a New Zealand case without electoral reform to use as a comparison unit. The study finds that there is some evidence to believe that the proportional electoral system in New Zealand have effected its within-state economic equality, especially when compared with international trends. These findings are also supported by earlier research and findings on welfare generosity changes. (Less)
