The purpose of this thesis has been to identify the different expectations of a public servant that could supposedly be portrayed in a sample of this debate, consisting of three debate articles. The ”pro et contra-list” as an argumentative analysis method was used to oversee the argumentative structures of these debate articles. These structures were then compared to two different theoretical ideals of the public servant, one by Max Weber and the other by Lennart Lundquist. The conclusion of this thesis was that in two of the debate articles, Max Webers ideal public servant was identified, and in the remaining article, Lennart Lundquists ideal public servant was identified.
