Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine whether gender-based price discrimination occurs on the Swedish market. If shown, an additional analysis of the result is made to study which gender is subject to discrimination and thus draws a disadvantage on the Swedish market. In order to examine this question, the study is completed with descriptive statistics, linear regression analysis as well as non-parametric statistical hypothesis testing. The study comprehends 900 observations divided into 450 comparisons that were collected during the later part of March 2020. The data sample is sorted into fifteen different product categories and divided into gender-based pairs. The outcome for the non-parametrical test shows statistically significant... (More)

The data sample is sorted into fifteen different product categories and divided into gender-based pairs. The outcome for the non-parametrical test shows statistically significant differences in prices, which are in the female consumers’ disadvantage. This result was particularly shown in four out of fifteen product categories. This study cannot find any statistically significant evidence for differences in prices for the male consumers’ disadvantage based on the non-parametrical tests. (Less)
