Our objective was to examine the difficulties single mothers face in relation to physical training. The used method was a netnographic document study with a qualitative approach. The empirical data was obtained through a Swedish online-community with a forum feature. 60 threads written by single mothers were collected for this study. Pierre Bourdieu's concepts, social, economic and cultural capital, habitus, fields and doxa were used as a theoretical framework to describe the opportunities and limitations for physical activities among single mothers. The most common reasons for limitations for physical activities, as is conducted by the material, was economical resources, lifestyle and lack of social network and time. The most common factors for opportunities for physical activities, conducted by the material, were associated with having a rich capital composition and a quality socio economic standard. Also having a supportive social network on a personal and societal level was an advantage for opportunities to participate in physical training. Using knowledge from a online-community, from single mothers, we attempt to present these aspects of health and physical training among this vulnerable and exposed group. (Less)
