- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)

- This quantitative study aims to research the connection between social class and alliance in psychotherapy. The study looks at patients’ social circumstances and their experience of therapeutic alliance. A survey was distributed to clinics and through social media in Sweden, and gathered 233 responses. Responses were analysed statistically to find if any connection could be found between the respondents reported socioeconomic status and their experience with therapeutic alliance, operationalized through the WAI-SR form and four additional items concerning identification with the therapist and social circumstances as a hindrance. The findings of the analysis point to a connection between social class and therapeutic alliance. The results... (More)

The findings of the analysis point to a connection between social class and therapeutic alliance. The results point to a positive correlation between class and therapeutic alliance. They also show that subjective social status does not have a stronger connection to alliance than socioeconomic status. Length of therapy does not interact with subjective or socioeconomic status on WAI-SR. There are significant relationships between social class and identification with the therapist, in addition to social circumstances as a hindrance. (Less)
