Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out what motivates developers to choose More sustainable solutions. By identifying trends that are most relevant for developers and find out what developers could gain by acting more futureoriented from the three perspectives of sustainability this study aims to find out what drives developers to build more sustainably. These insights can by comparison with the Future Ready concept help plot what is required by consultants to be able to motivate more sustainable solutions.

The methods used to find solutions to the problem statements are a qualitative interview study, a literature study and a case study. The case study was made on WSP:s concept Future Ready, which focuses on providing future-proof advice and solutions. The purpose of the concept is to find doable solutions to what appears to be unsolvable problems, solutions that both considers the challenges of the future as well as tend to the ones of today. The concept is built on the knowledge that WSP has gathered on the predicted future challenges our world is facing. It is on these pinpointed future trends that WSP then base their advice and provided solutions.

The qualitative interview study combined with the case study is what makes up the result, which is base for the analysis which in turn is what the final conclusions are based on.

The result from the interview study shows that developers generally are open for more innovative and sustainable suggestions as long as these are supported by facts and numbers. It is also important that the consultant that presents the solution is clear on what the solution will mean in terms of benefits and risks. Conclusions that can be made from the result and analysis are that it takes legitimate theories, transparency and interest for the specific developers issues to simplify the process of providing solutions that includes more than what was asked for. When it comes to future trends that are most relevant for developers this study concludes that these lay in the fields of community changes and climate changes. For the question on what developers can gain by acting more future-oriented from the three perspectives of sustainability the conclusion is that all three perspectives can give profit as long as there is proper planning. In most cases though, the economic perspective is the one that works as a framework for the profit that can be made out of the other perspectives. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)

(More)

(Less)
