Abstract
This study aimed to investigate how different psychological mechanisms are related to well-being. More specifically, the study investigated how psychological flexibility, psychological inflexibility, self-compassion and compassion for others were related to mental illness and life satisfaction. Data were collected through an online survey (N = 171) with measures of psychological flexibility, compassion and self-compassion, mental illness and life satisfaction. The result showed that there was a positive relationship between psychological flexibility and well-being. However, the relationship between compassion and self-compassion related to well-being did not go in the predicted direction. The results were partly in line with previous... (More)

The results were partly in line with previous research, but some results differed from what was previously stated, such as compassion and self-compassion not being positively related to well-being. One possible explanation for this could be that at the time of writing we are in a pandemic that could possibly affect the general mood and contribute to the somewhat divergent result. (Less)
Popular Abstract (Swedish)
(More)
