- The aim of this study was to examine factors which affect the occurrence of work related threats and violence toward social workers. Specifically differences in experiences of threats and violence between social workers who exercise public authority and other professionals who practice social work in general have been studied. - The aim of this study was to examine factors which affect the occurrence of work related threats and violence toward social workers. Further, gender and age as possible risk factors for workplace violence and threats have been studied. The results of the questionnaire were analyzed through univariate and bivariate analysis. The study identified that social workers who exercise public authority in comparison with other professionals, experience more threats and worries more about both threats and violence. However, they appear to experience less violence. The study also found that workload and stress seems to increase the risk of being a victim of work related threat and violence. The results showed that young employees are at a higher risk to experience both threats and violence. While men to a greater extent report experiences of both threats and violence, women experience more worrying of being exposed to threats and violence. (Less)
