Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore how care managers and counsellors, who meet seniors in their daily work, experience the interaction between social services and health care when it comes to the elderly's mental illness. The study had a qualitative approach and included six semi structured interviews with three care managers in senior care and three counsellors in health care. Questions concerning the division of responsibilities and challenges the professionals identify in collaboration formed the basis for the investigation. For the analysis the theory of Ageism and the concept of Collaboration were used. The study shows that in several situations there is a well-functioning collaboration between the social services and the health... (More)

For the analysis the theory of Ageism and the concept of Collaboration were used. The study shows that in several situations there is a well-functioning collaboration between the social services and the health care section. However, most respondents chose to focus on the challenges that come with encountering issues with seniors' mental health. The shortcomings that were highlighted by the interviewees concerning collaboration were based on a lack of resources, a lack of knowledge in the field and a lack of the right interventions to be able to prevent and help the elderly from their mental illness, but also, the fact that the seniors rarely get the help they need for mental illness precisely because they are seniors. Popular Abstract (Swedish)
(More)
