Abstract
This project consists of literature research and a design proposal. The concluding discussion evaluates the design as well as the hypothesis of the research.
Today, buildings often tend to be short-lived and their potential of recyclability are often limited. Throughout the thesis I am striving to understand wood as a building material. In the theoretical section of the essay, wood is presented from a contextual point of view as well as its benefits, considerations and flammability. This regards wood as a building material in its more “raw form” such as solid timber and planks, but also laminated wood such as Glue-laminated timber (GLT) and Cross-laminated timber (CLT).

The research constitutes a ground for an architectural exploratory design, where a wood structure is implemented in a contradictory environment of brick and concrete. The implemented building is in all parts entirely made of wood. (Less)
