- Abstract
- We investigate 125 military coups from 1980 to find out whether organizational cohesion has any impact on the military’s probability to assume control over the ruling authority. Organizational cohesion is operationalized through coup maker rank and military coups as a binary variable. For this to be tested, a logistic regression analysis has been put to use to produce an interpretable result from the data that has been compiled. The initial analysis includes the identified main variables organizational cohesion and military coups to assess the correlation in-between them. The second analysis sees the introduction of several control variables. Considering the result that has been given, the conclusion is made that or-ganizational cohesion... (More)

The second analysis sees the introduction of several control variables. Considering the result that has been given, the conclusion is made that or-ganizational cohesion and the outcome of military coups demonstrates a correlation too cryptic to be assessed. Therefore, the hypothesized relationship between organizational cohesion and coup outcomes was not supported by data in this paper. (Less)
