I have conducted a qualitative method in the form of semi-structured interviews to achievethe purpose of this study. Through an intersectional perspective and theories of hegemonic masculinity I analyze the discourses of the various psychological violence which have been described in the interviewee’s experiences basis on three main themes: isolation and controlling behavior, the derogatory discourse, threats and intimidation. In addition, I examine how marginalized groups, such as women with disabilities, older women, and working-class women have been affected by psychological violence in heterosexual relationships. As result, psychological violence is identified through unequal power relationships between women and men. (Less)
