- This study examines the Swedish folk-song tradition and its participants. The purpose of this study is to create an understanding of how its practitioners relate to, use and, maintain the folk song as a tradition and cultural heritage. This will be achieved by approaching the Swedish folk song tradition as a performative expression. Firstly the results of this study shows that by practicing the tradition, the participants grant legitimacy to their creative expression. Secondly the participants have difficulties defining the Swedish folk-song tradition, and highlight different aspects of the folk song tradition as significant. Some
