(2021) PPTN76 20211Department of Psychology
- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

- Abstract
- The aim of this study was to reach a deeper understanding of how professionals trained in psychotherapy describe and relate to the challenges in meeting clients with a comorbidity of eating disorder and gender dysphoria. Nine professionals participated in semi-structured interviews and nine themes were identified through thematic analysis. The participants were recruited from two clinics, one that specializes in eating disorders and one that specializes in sexual health. The participants expressed a heightened vigilance in meeting with the patients, and a concern about the risk of patients falling through the cracks. Insufficiency regarding experience and knowledge in combination with the way that care is organized can be an unnecessary... (More)

Insufficiency regarding experience and knowledge in combination with the way that care is organized can be an unnecessary burden for exposed individuals seeking help. Collaboration between organizations and caregivers is recommended to counteract this gap. Future research should cover a broad perspective that includes patients with psychiatric comorbidity. (Less)
