Brandteknisk riskvärdering av handkirurgavdelning på Mölndals sjukhus

Abstract
This report is a fire safety risk analysis about the hand surgery department of Sahlgrenska hospital in Mölndal. It is a new department since March 2021 in the top four floors of building K.
Since the Covid-19 restrictions are still in effect a visit to the hospital was not an option. Therefore, it was harder to gain understanding of fire hazards, layout and materials in the building. Instead, a supervisor went on site and took pictures for the group to analyse and build scenarios with. Using those pictures together with statistics, 10 plausible scenarios were made. Since the Covid-19 restrictions are still in effect a visit to the hospital was not an option. Therefore, it was harder to gain understanding of fire hazards, layout and materials in the building. Instead, a supervisor went on site and took pictures for the group to analyse and build scenarios with. Using those pictures together with statistics, 10 plausible scenarios were made. These were reduced to three representative scenarios which may challenge the fire protection of the building.
Simulations were conducted with the computer programs FDS, Fire Dynamics Simulator and Pathfinder, egress model. FDS was used to give us outputs on the most critical aspects of the scenarios. The sought-out variables were temperature, visibility and carbon monoxide gas concentration and at what time they reached critical values. Together with Pathfinder the safety of the people in need of evacuation could be determined.
The original scenarios never reached critical values. The sensitivity analysis scenarios breached critical values in visibility, and in the other aspects it had good margin of time for people to evacuate. This happened because detection was delayed. To address this problem some improvements were suggested, for example:
• Automatic door closer that would reduce fire smoke – could become quite expensive.

• Markings on the ground that would indicate the way to nearest egress route – cheap.

• Updating the routines reducing the large quantity of big flammable energy packages – cheap (Less)

förhållanden som genereras utav dessa 3. För att få kritiska värden, och därmed sätta en gräns för vad
som är acceptabelt, har Boverkets riktlinjer nyttjats samt en forskarrapport ifrån Lunds universitet.
Resultaten givna utifrån de simuleringar som körts visar på att sjukhuset eventuellt kommer att få
problem att möta de krav som ställs på tillgänglig sikt i scenariot med kontorsbranden. Detta sker
dock enbart om det sker en sen detektering av branden genom en felfungerande rökdetektor. Annars
bryts inga av de satta skadekriterierna. För att underlätta vid situationer med en felfungerande
detektor föreslås sjukhuset att göra en eller flera utav följande åtgärder för att underlätta
evakueringen, och därmed säkerställa att skyddsmålet uppnås:
• Automatiska dörrstängare som kopplas till brand
• Riktmärken mot utrymningsväg
• Röststyrt evakueringslarm
• Uppdatering av sina nuvarande rutiner
• Timers på köksutrustning (Less)
