Abstract
The adolescent experience has over the last twenty years differed immensely from earlier generations. These are all chief contributions on social constructionism and identity, which is serving as an indispensable starting point for understanding how adolescents are experiencing doing identity both offline and online, and whether the awareness of the alternating relationship between online identity and offline is present. An online survey was used to gauge participant’s awareness of respectively: Agency; creating identity; online staging and congruence concerning online and offline identity. Additionally semi-structured interviews were performed in order to get more elaborate data. The analysis includes a socio-psychological theoretical discussion on the participant’s own experience in order to create a deeper understanding of life as it is in twenty-twenty-one, when being at ones most vulnerable stage in the identity making process; coming of age.
