En bristande närvaro kan för elever komma att innebära en risk för misslyckande i skolan och därmed även till negativa konsekvenser i senare livsskeden. Därför är närvaro en viktig del av elevers skolgång, mer specifikt en viktig förutsättning för en framgångsrik skolgång. Syftet med studien är att undersöka huruvida niondeklassares attityd till skolan samt motivation predicerar deras skolnärvaro utifrån Theory of Planned Behavior och Self-determination theory. Vidare är syftet även att undersöka vilken av de variabler som utgör attityd respektive motivation som starkast predicerar närvaro. Därför är närvaro en viktig del av elevers skolgång, mer specifikt en viktig förutsättning för en framgångsrik skolgång. Syftet med studien är att undersöka huruvida niondeklassares attityd till skolan samt motivation predicerar deras skolnärvaro utifrån Theory of Planned Behavior och Self-determination theory. Vidare är syftet även att undersöka vilken av de variabler som utgör attityd respektive motivation som starkast predicerar närvaro. Målet med detta är att skapa ett underlag för vidare diskussion och arbete med elevers närvaro i skolan samt främjandet av den. Studiens metod för att undersöka detta bestod av en enkätundersökning, som utformades med hjälp av redan utformade likertskalor. Den beroende variabeln, närvaro, mättes med en egenkonstruerad skala. Enkätundersökningen besvarades av 315 elever i nionde klass på grundskolor i Sverige. Därefter analyserades den insamlade datan genom binära regressionsanalyser. Resultatet visar att attityd till skolan predicerar närvaro, där attityden till lärare var starkast. Motivation var däremot delvis predicerande av närvaro, där amotivation var den variabel som starkast predicerade närvaro. (Less)

To investigate this, a questionnaire survey was designed using already designed Likert scales. The dependent variable, attendance, was measured on a self-constructed scale. The survey’srespondents consisted of 315 ninth graders in elementary schools in Sweden. Thereafter, the collected data were analyzedwith binary regression analyses. The results indicate that attitude towards school predicts attendance, where the attitude towards teachers was the strongest one. Motivation, on the other hand, partly predicts attendance, and amotivation was the variable that predicted attendancethestrongest (Less)
