Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine how psychodynamic psychotherapists experienced the rapid transition from having psysical sessions to digital due to the pandemic COVID-19, as well as what experience they have had. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with five psychodynamic therapists. The material was analyzed with thematic analysis and eight themes were identified. The study shows that the transistion was experienced as difficult. In such a short time, without any knowledge, or education, or any knowledge in the digital area, to dive into the psychodynamic therapy digitally has been experienced as very challening for the therapists. A big amount of the patients has canceled or wished to postpone their therapy sessions due... (More)

A big amount of the patients has canceled or wished to postpone their therapy sessions due to the circumstances. The study show that new experiences has been made and the benefits and the setbacks were revealed. The therapeutic alliance was experienced as much tougher digitally, technical issues has arisen and the therapists showed signs of mental and physical exhaustion. The therapists describes themselves as becoming more active and direct. Reflections were made surronding which patients are more suited for digital therapy sessions. The benefits are believed that some of the patients could open up more in their own home environment and that they could resumed their theraphy sessions with patients that moved away because of their studies or lack of time. The therapists expressed their gratitude to having options in the current pandemic in the awaiting of physical meetings. The result are discussed in relationship to its implications for practical and further research regarding digital psychodynamic therapy sessions. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
