Mesolitisk pälsjakt i Sydskandinavien: Kan pälsviltet avspegla en ekonomi i förändring?

- Abstract
- The main purpose of this Bachelor thesis is to study Mesolithic fur-game hunting and how it changed over time. New influences can change an economy rapidly, for example the fur trade during the seventeenth century in North America. In three Danish late-Mesolithic settlements Agernæs, Ringkloster and Tybrind Vig excavations has yielded evidence for largescale hunting of Pine marten. Is it possible that the late Ertebølle sites reflects a shifting economy in the late Mesolithic, especially when the Neolithic societies closed in from the European continent? In this paper the main goal is to compare the osteological evidence from four different sites in South Sweden, Ageröd, Huseby Klev, Ringsjöholm and Tågerup as a mean to find a changing... (More)

Is it possible that the late Ertebølle sites reflects a shifting economy in the late Mesolithic, especially when the Neolithic societies closed in from the European continent? In this paper the main goal is to compare the osteological evidence from four different sites in South Sweden, Ageröd, Huseby Klev, Ringsjöholm and Tågerup as a mean to find a changing hunting strategy. The results did not show an overall increase of fur game hunting during the late Mesolithic. Closest was the site of Huseby Klev, which showed an increase in percentage of fur game during the later periods, but as well a decrease in percentage of ungulates. Which in terms showed a bigger dependency on aquatic food sources. A regional rise of fur game hunting could not be proven during this study but showed how significant and unique the danish hunting sites are during the late Mesolithic. (Less)
