Min tradition och hur jag hittar den
(2021) MUUK03 20211Malmö Academy of Music
- Abstract
- “My tradition and how I find it” is the commentary part of the degree project by Ville Syri, it’s about exploring the parts of prejudice and opinions that surround traditional music. It is a journey inward to find a meaningful way to play Swedish folk music. The work is based on the tradition of the riksspelman Gustaf Jernberg (1881-1964) I make imaginary field trips back in time with help of photos and texts about Jernberg. The focus of the report shifts and becomes more focused on the place from where you create, rather than tradition.
