Abstract
The coronavirus is a subject currently on everyone’s lips. The pandemic has not only made existing inequalities more profound, it has also further exposed vulnerabilities that have impacted women on several fronts. The purpose of this thesis is thus to investigate how women in the workforce are affected by working from home and to highlight reproductive labour, an area that the Swedish-Gender-Equality-Agency believes may be affected as a result of the pandemic. Through a qualitative interview method we have collected data to investigate whether the distribution of reproductive labour has been affected in heterosexual relationships where both partners currently work from home. One of the most central findings is the lack of a common experience of increased stress despite that work and private life are now intertwined. Much of the results rather suggest that working from home has led to a perceived decrease in stress, more efficient work and a simplified daily life since the informants can combine reproductive labour with their full-time employment. This could potentially indicate a pre-existing problematic everyday life of unattainable expectations that working mothers face. Furthermore no clear signs of a possible increase in gender equality within reproductive labour have emerged during the pandemic. (Less)
