- Abstract
- This thesis describes the process and the approach taken to determine the current limitations and potential improvements of the GPX Porosity prototype.
To continue the development of the GPX Porosity instrument, a series of comparative measurements has been performed on pharmaceutical ribbons, to understand better what are the factors limiting the optical porosity measurement precision and if other features such as average pore size measurement could be implemented. Out of the two spectroscopic techniques used (GASMAS and PTOFS) to determine the optical porosity of pharmaceutical ribbons, the GASMAS experimental setup is identified as limiting the most the optical porosity measurement precision. Additionally, the minimal sample size has been determined to be small enough to enable the optical porosity control on other types of samples like tablets. The improvement of the GASMAS system, which is essential for the development of GPX Porosity could be achieved by improving the spectral resolution and integrating the absorption peaks. (Less)
