- Abstract
- The aim of this paper is to examine how the covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions around have effected domestic violence against women in Sweden. The year 2020 has been affected hard by the coronavirus spreading throughout the world. Alot of nations applied a lockdown strategy to fight the spread of the virus. Sweden choosed to handle things differently and let the government give out recommendations to the population. The study uses a content analysis on case law from swedish district courts to identify what factors are behind domestic violence during the pandemic. The theories also aims to discuss how power is being maintained within a violent relationship during the pandemic. The conclusion that could be drawn from the study's result was that it is a lot of different factors that have an effect on domestic violence during the pandemic. The most noticeable effect would be the social norm of staying inside that have been created by the restrictions and urgings of the state. The perpetrators' use of power to control the victims have been made easier by these new social norms. (Less)
