- I den här uppsatsen behandlas den pågående debatten gällande att värdskapet för fot- bolls-VM 2022 tilldelades Qatar. En konflikt som handlar om diskriminering och över- grepp av mänskliga rättigheter i Qatar och ställs emot värdegrunderna fotbollsvärlden uppges stå för. Uppsatsen syfte är att utifrån nuvarande forskningsläge bidra med hur de potentiella deltagarna till fotbolls-VM i Qatar, landslagen och nationella fotbollsför- bund, ställer sig till mästerskapet. Uppsatsen syfte är att utifrån nuvarande forskningsläge bidra med hur de potentiella deltagarna till fotbolls-VM i Qatar, landslagen och nationella fotbollsför- bund, ställer sig till mästerskapet. Analysen genomfördes med hjälp av Arne Næss ar- gumentationsanalys som bygger på att identifiera tes, pro- och contraargument för att besvara den primära frågeställningen och syftet för uppsatsen: Hur ställer sig de olika nationella fotbollsförbunden till fotbolls-VM i Qatar 2022? Resultaten från argumenta- tionsanalysen påvisade att en majoritet av förbunden var emot att fotbolls-VM hölls i Qatar baserat på landets övergrepp av mänskliga rättigheter. Andra förbund var antingen mer reserverade i sitt ställningstagande eller så uttalades inget ställningstagande alls. Efter att ha besvarat den första frågeställningen med resultaten från argumentationsana- lysen användes olika teoretiska perspektiv som valts induktivt från tidigare forskning efter att resultaten från argumentationsanalysen fastställts. Tidigare forskningen presen- terade tre olika teoretiska perspektiv som applicerades på resultatet. Resultaten på denna process användes för att besvara den andra frågeställningen: Hur förhåller sig förbunden och deras argumentation sig till mänskliga rättigheter och upprätthållandet av densam- ma? Svaret visade sig vara att fotbollsförbunden argumenterade i försvar för de mänsk- liga rättigheterna och samarbetet man förespråkade skulle också vara en bidragande fak- tor till att mänskliga rättigheter kan komma att spela en stor roll vid val av värdstat för mega-events i framtiden. - This paper seeks to investigate the ongoing debate and conflict about the awarding of the FIFA World Cup 2022 to Qatar. A conflict that circuit around discrimination and abuses of human rights in Qatar and the values that the world of football stands for. The purpose of this paper is to contribute with new research involving the positions of the actual participants of the championship, the national associations. The analysis of their position was made through an argumentative analysis, an Arne Næss method with the- sis, pro- and counterarguments. - This paper seeks to investigate the ongoing debate and conflict about the awarding of the FIFA World Cup 2022 to Qatar. A conflict that circuit around discrimination and abuses of human rights in Qatar and the values that the world of football stands for. After the analysis of first issue, the results were then used to answer the second issue: How does the associations arguments position themselves in regards to human rights and the protection of it? The results from the analysis were investigated with different theoretical frameworks which sought to give different angles to put the arguments to the test. The results shows that the cooperation and arguments for that cooperation do strengthen human rights in Qatar and also in terms of its position in future awards of mega-events. The associations did indeed act in the defense of human rights and in its own power did protect the respect of it. (Less)
