- Abstract
- This thesis investigate the possibility for a island to be electrically powered only by wind turbines as this form of energy source is variable. There is a need to store it. In this thesis we look at the possibility for hydrogen to be the energy carrier in such a system. This results in the use of the surplus electricity produced by wind turbines to produce hydrogen, store it and use it later to produce electricity when required. The aim of this thesis was to prove the possibility of an hybrid system such as this one to produce electricity
90% of the time. It was possible for our system and an LCoE (Levelized Cost of Electricity) as low as 0.0845€/kWh was obtained for the island of Groix.
