Abstract
The question of whether one type of leadership is better than another is something which is often debated. In many cases priority is given to efficiency and profitability rather than workersatisfaction which can lead to lacking motivation within the workforce. To examine which type
of leadership resulted in the best worker satisfaction an experimental design was used. In total 76 people participated in this study and since the only prerequisite for participation was some sort of work experience the participants were chosen by convenience. of leadership resulted in the best worker satisfaction an experimental design was used. In total 76 people participated in this study and since the only prerequisite for participation was some sort of work experience the participants were chosen by convenience. The participants were at random given one of two different surveys which described either a transformational leader or a transactional leader. In the last part of the survey the participants got to rank their satisfaction with the boss they were randomly assigned, which resulted significantly in favor of the boss using transformative leadership. Using an experimental design gave us the opportunity to draw conclusions that the leadership descriptions were the cause of the difference in satisfaction, which would not have been possible in a correlation study. The result shows that the workers
appreciate a transformational leadership style more than a transactional one. Together with previous research within the subject the result also shows that transformational leadership is the more effective leadership style by boosting satisfaction, motivation and performance. The study
as a whole shows the importance of tending to relationships within the workplace when it comes to work efficiency as well as the wellbeing of everyone involved. (Less)

Användandet av en experimentell design gav oss möjligheten att dra slutsatser om att ledarskapsbeskrivningen var orsaken till skillnaden i nöjdhetsskattningar
vilket inte hade varit möjligt med en korrelationsstudie. Resultatet visar på att arbetstagare uppskattar ett transformativt ledarskap över ett transaktionellt. Tillsammans med tidigare studier inom ämnet visar resultatet även att transformativt ledarskap är den mer effektiva ledarstilen genom att öka nöjdhet, motivation och prestation. Studien som helhet visar på vikten att vårda relationer på arbetsplatsen, både för arbetets effektivitet men också för allas välmående. (Less)
