- The aim of this study was, through qualitative interviews with four women who lived with
violence in close relationships, to study the post-violence after an ended relationship. I wanted to inquire into what feelings the women experienced and what support they felt they received from society in their process of finding their way back to themselves after separation from a violent man. The results showed that women are exposed to post-violence in the form of psychological violence where the most common way for the man to contact the woman was by telephone. It was also possible to read that the police were an important organization but that the women did not feel trusted in their experience because prosecutions are not always brought. At the same time, it turns out that the emotions the women lived with are many and complicated, where shame was a prominent emotion. Society needs to continue to educate professionals who meet these women in their professional role and to highlight to the public the importance of daring to ask in order to be able to make a difference for these vulnerable women.
