The events could, for example, be building a family or getting threatened. The social environment and society affect professionals’ work with defectors in different ways. Cooperation with other professions and organizations had a significant part and could be something that affected professionals’ work with defectors in different ways depending on communication and the use of available resources. In summary professionals in defector support programs have a difficult work to support defectors. They need support from other actors and from society to meet the needs that exist among defectors.
