(2022) PSYK11 20212Department of Psychology
- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
- Abstract
- The aim of this study was to examine if constructive leadership can predict trust in the immediate supervisor, similarly if trust and the three facets of trust (ability, benevolence and integrity) can predict any of the three outcomes of psychological well-being (positive affect, job engagement and general well-being) at libraries in Sweden. Continually, the aim of the study was to contribute to the psychological research within the library industry field, where the leadership has proven to be inadequate. The data was collected through a digital survey which was answered by librarians and library managers in Sweden (N=245). Whilst the results indicated that constructive leadership does indeed predict trust in the immediate supervisor, the... (More)

Continually, the aim of the study was to contribute to the psychological research within the library industry field, where the leadership has proven to be inadequate. The data was collected through a digital survey which was answered by librarians and library managers in Sweden (N=245). Whilst the results indicated that constructive leadership does indeed predict trust in the immediate supervisor, the relation was so high that the variables could possibly constitute the same notion. The results also showed that trust as a concept (including ability, benevolence and integrity combined) was a significant predictor of positive affect, job engagement and general well-being. Furthermore, ability appeared to be the only significant predictor variable of the trust facets for positive affect, while benevolence was the only significant predictor variable for job engagement and general well-being. These findings are valuable for both the library industry in Sweden as well as a contribution to the work towards understanding how to create organizations with prosperous employees. (Less)
