- Abstract
- This thesis tries to answer how acts of homemaking can manifest with regard to four young adults in an urban environment. The paper takes a closer look at how the material takes form to create meaningful and concrete ways of navigating an uncertain landscape of adulthood in Stockholm, Sweden. Through the understandings of material culture made possible by Daniel Miller, Anat Hecht, Bodil Birkebæk Olesen, and Gernot Böhme this study attempts a recount of informant's respective acts of homemaking. By looking at objects in domestic surroundings and the relationships these confer informants find themselves constructing worlds within different objectives, some of which are unknown to themselves.
