- Detta examensarbete undersöker hur man kan förtäta i trädgårdsstaden Äppelviken utanför Stockholm. Området är dominerat av enfamiljshus inbäddade i lummiga trädgårdar som byggdes under början av 1900-talet. Äppelviken är en av de äldsta trädgårdsstäderna i Sverige och de boende motsätter sig till att man bygger här. De befarar att nybygge ska förstöra de höga kulturvärden som finns i Äppelviken idag.
Jag har valt att utforska detta problem och presenterar därför ett nytt förslag på bostadslägenheter baserat på analyser och tolkningar av den fysiska och historiska kontexten. Förhoppningsvis ska förslaget bidra till att stärka de kvaliteter som trädgårdsstaden Äppelviken erhåller idag.
Målsättningen med arbetet är att få utforska och experimentera hur ny arkitektur tar plats i en historisk kontext samt få en fördjupad förståelse för trädgårdsstäders historia och arkitektur. (Less) - Abstract

The area is dominated by single-family houses built in the early 20th century placed in an organic street pattern with large gardens. Äppelviken is one of the oldest garden cities in Sweden and the residents are against to any development in the area. They are afraid that new housing will destroy the high cultural qualities that exist here today.
I have chosen to challenge this and present a new apartment housing based on analysis and interpretations of the physical and historical context. The apartment building I suggest adds a new typology of housing to create more of a mixture in the residential area and to give the opportunity for more... The goal with this thesis is to first explore and experiment about how new architecture can take place in an old cultural historical established environment, secondly compile a deeper knowledge of the history and architecture of garden cities. (Less)
