The professionals described tramadol as widely spread, unpredictable, harmful drug and the target group to include adolescent with many risk factors to those with high performance. Tramadol was explained as an everyday drug. The study showed professionals were aware of at least four general purposes with the drug intake; the effect of tramadol was exciting and fun; to stimulate activity levels; in a self-medicating purpose and to maintain normal function.
The results of the study showed that the two professions aimed to approach the phenomena through their professional background, where the psychiatrics were more medical oriented than the social workers who reflected more around the drug abuse social impact. Furthermore, it showed that a majority of the treatment professionals used a pattern of measures that they found were effective in the rehabilitation work, although the professionals meant that the treatment should be adapted to the individual in question.
