Abstract
Is the general perception that Swedish news always conveys a true picture of reality and that the news is always credible?

National security and military threats are today an essential part of the security policy agenda. The nature of the world around us has changed significantly in recent months and Sweden's security policy is directly affected by developments in the world around us. The rapid changes in the security policy situation mean that the Swedish people need a truthful news report. The credibility of information plays an increasingly important role in not damaging the functionality of society or creating a false image of reality.

The question in the study will investigate whether there is a basis for a credibility assessment in Swedish security policy news. The study aims to add new knowledge in how to use the content of the news to assess the credibility of the news.

The study finds that in Swedish security policy news it is possible to use values and source information in the text to assess the news' credibility. The most prominent aspect of the study is how a credibility assessment can be made through the clarity of the values and source information. The credibility is probably greater the clearer the basis of the news. (Less)
