Abstract
A quasi-experimental study with mixed design was used to explore the effect of a one-day educational intervention in Acceptance- and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for personnel in psychiatric inpatient childcare. The measured variables were psychological flexibility, symptoms of general psychological distress, self-compassion and number of sick-leave days. Furthermore, the study explored how the possible effect developed over time for the experimental group, and whether the participants' experience of the intervention influenced the effect. The study was conducted alongside an already existing project within an inpatient facility for children, whose personnel constituted the experimental group (n=45). A control
group (n=16) was formed out of... (More)

group (n=16) was formed out of personnel from two other inpatient facilities for children. After the intervention both groups completed follow-up measurements. To view effect over time the experimental group conducted another follow-up three months after the intervention. No significant results in line with the study's hypotheses were found. Future studies are advised to use a bigger sample and a more comprehensive intervention in order to more thoroughly understand the possibilities and limitations of ACT for psychiatric health-care personnel. Abstract (Swedish)
