- This paper will examine the Bosnian refugees social network, the first years of living in Sweden and the social network they have today. The study aims to compare the changes described in the Bosnian refugees' social networks in Sweden over time. We are striving to identify what differences the group describes but also what similarities can be distinguished. We have approached this study with a qualitative method and used semi structured interviews, interviewing six Bosnian refugees about their social network. - This paper will examine the Bosnian refugees social network, the first years of living in Sweden and the social network they have today. The study aims to compare the changes described in the Bosnian refugees' social networks in Sweden over time. We are striving to identify what differences the group describes but also what similarities can be distinguished. We have approached this study with a qualitative method and used semi structured interviews, interviewing six Bosnian refugees about their social network. This study will examine the interviewees' stories through three theoretical approaches: social capital, socialization and cultural competence. The conclusion of this paper is that the interviewees described a tendency to socialize with other refugees from former Yugoslavia in the refugee camp as well as other individuals with similar backgrounds in their first years in Sweden. We have also found that the interviewees have gone through a socialization process and describe that their social network consists more of Swedes today but also of people with various backgrounds. The results of this study show that the most significant factors that have contributed to a change in our respondents' social networks are learning the language and gaining knowledge over time about Swedish culture.
