Abstract
The assumption that people with eating disorders are skinny is still widespread, even though there is a co-occurrence between eating disorders and obesity. Despite this co-occurrence, there is a gap in the knowledge regarding questionnaires aimed at assessing eating disorders and subclinical symptoms for people with obesity. Therefore, a systematic review was conducted with the purpose of finding available questionnaires, with reported psychometric properties, aimed at detecting eating-related problems in people with obesity and then examining the psychometric properties. The aim was to suggest the most reliable and valid way of measuring eating-related problems available to clinicians today. We also investigate what clinicians find... (More)

We also investigate what clinicians find important regarding such questionnaires by approaching professionals in the field (n=11). Our systematic search resulted in 18 questionnaires, which were then reviewed in relation to quality criteria. The Weight Self-Stigma Questionnaire (WSSQ) and Eating Loss of Control Scale (ELOCS) were given a positive evaluation in 5 out of 7 quality criteria, indicating that they have the best psychometric properties for an obesity population of the included questionnaires. Professionals mentioned a wish to examine eating patterns and behaviors. Out of the forms measuring aspects of this, ELOCS, Yale Food Addiction Scale 2.0 (YFAS 2.0) and Child Eating Behavior Scale (CEBQ) got the most positive evaluations assessed with our quality criteria. Given the limited number of studies and the lack of qualitative analysis of the opinions from professionals, the results should be interpreted with caution. Hence, more extensive research is needed in the area. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
(Less)
