- Abstract
- People spend a substantial amount of their life at work. In relation to this job satisfaction is important for employees and organizations. The study’s aim was to examine if employee’s job satisfaction is predicted by personality and relationship to one’s leader. Personality was measured through the theory of five personality factors (Big Five), whilst relationship to one’s leader was measured through Leader-member exchange (LMX). Furthermore, the study examined how personality connects with relationship to one’s leader to better understand the connection between the predictors Big Five and LMX. The aim of the study was to contribute to the knowledge of job satisfaction by answering two research questions. Through an online survey,... (More)

Through an online survey, answered by workers (N = 200) data was collected. The study’s result showed that LMX and Big Five can significantly predict job satisfaction. Furthermore, in the same regression model LMX and neuroticism proved to be significant predictors of job satisfaction. In addition, the regression model for Big Five and LMX also proved to be significant. Our study shows organizations the value of encouraging the establishing of well-functioning relationships between leaders and employees, since a high LMX leads to an increased job satisfaction. The result indicates that high neuroticism decreases job satisfaction, more knowledge is therefore needed to study how employees with high neuroticism should be met. (Less)
- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
