Abstract (Swedish)
In Lund city center there are many buildings classed as cultural heritage. In Maria Magle, which is one of the oldest block in the city, the Salvation Army build their head quarter in Lund 1899. In recent time the Salvation Army sold their building and it took a new shape and form as a concert hall and is now called Magle Concert Hall. The house is owned and managed by Lund Student Singers, but it is also frequently used by other choirs in Lund. Right now, there are plans for an expansion to create a more functional concert hall, and in my master thesis I have chosen to make a proposal.

Right now, there are plans for an expansion to create a more functional concert hall, and in my master thesis I have chosen to make a proposal.
Lund is a city known for its many choirs, but even though, there are not that many places for rehearsals and concerts. Magle Consert Hall is with its location in the middle of Lund and size a perfect place for just that. But the problem is that the old building is not well adapted for all the functions that a concert hall needs because of its small size and overall layout. The audience has no place to be exept the concert hall, the musicians have very limited back stage area and the Lund Student Singers has very little space for their operation.
In this enviroment in the middle of Lund with all its history, I have created a proposal to make a complete concert hall, where the old meets the new. On the little plot surrounded by tall buildings, I have tranformed parts of the old building and built new spaces to create a functioning concert hall. With more space for the musicians, the audience and also the Lund Student Singers. By working with altering the flows through the building and adding more spaces I have created a new place for the every choir in Lund. (Less)
