Abstract (Swedish)

(Less)
Abstract
In the current situation the building industry is behind other industries when it comes to making methods more effective. The industry relies on deliveries of material and that these happen without trouble. It’s important to work towards material being delivered at the correct time, correct quantity, and the correct place to avoid delays and unnecessary costs.

With a great interest in making the construction industry more effective the idea was born to study how deliveries affect the construction industry.

As this is an area that has great potential for development, Therefore the purpose of the study was to investigate the problems regarding deliveries in the construction industry. How construction logistics affect the projects but also the actors involved in the process. The aim was to compile views from the various actors and form an idea of where the major problems and deficiencies lie.

The study shows that the human factor has a major impact on logistics. The biggest errors that occur are caused by a lack of communication, relationships between actors and mistakes in handling too much practical information. One factor that is highly relevant right now is that there has been a pandemic and war going on in Europe, which has forced a positive development and shown some shortcomings in communication and relationship contexts. This has not been studied further to keep the study relevant for the future.

Areas of improvement that appear from the study were automation of various systems used to regulate deliveries. Even a simplification of the systems can minimize the human factor as there are fewer steps in the process and the risk of mistakes. However, there is a conservative thinking in the industry, which slows down the development. According to the study, standardization of the process would have been good but entails difficulties due to the fact that house building projects are never the same. (Less)
